Letter from Sali in Niger

(I had mentioned meeting Sali earlier [in my February 9 entry]. We agreed to keep in touch via email. - Lucille)

Dear Lucille,

I was so happy to hear from you. Forgive me for not writing sooner, but I could not get to a computer until now. I can only get to my mailbox about one time per week. I was wondering if we could make an exchange. I could send you a little of the heat of Niger in exchange for the coolness of Canada. We are entering our hot season and it will really be hot soon.

Concerning my ministry, I have just finished a seminar on sewing. I ask you to pray for me as I want to open a small tailor shop where I can teach sewing to other women and share the Gospel with them as well. I used to work as a nanny but now I am working toward having my own tailor shop where I can teach and minister to others as well as support my family.

I will spend 6 months in bettering my sewing skills and there is someone helping me financially during this 6 month period of time without a salary. Pray for me that I can do this as our family depends on my financial support. Pray for my husband, Daniel, as he travels to villages to share the Gospel. Pray for our church as we are opening a center for evangelism to invite people to come and learn about Jesus.

We thank God because He has given us a car which will help us in visiting those that are near and those that are far. It will help Daniel also to do the work of the church and for transportation to school. It will free him to get around to all the things God is opening up for us. It is so hard for him to take a taxi with his wheelchair. Now God has given him a car to get around and we see this as a great blessing. It will help the women in the church to go to meetings and help in the ministry for transporting food and other necessities. We thank God for this great gift, but there are some problems.

Since Daniel is unable to drive himself, he needs someone to drive him. He needs to pay this person to drive him to the places he needs to go. He also needs what it takes to care for a car such as gas, insurance, maintenance costs, etc. We have never had a car before, and although it is a great blessing, it also requires much to keep it going. I know that God gave us the car and He can also provide all that is needed to use it.

Will you pray that we will have wisdom and grace to handle this blessing well? Thank you. It is a beautiful car which was a gift from a woman from Switzerland. It even has an automatic shift which is very rare here in Niger. I want to learn to drive, and this will help me learn. We thank the Lord for His graciousness to us.

Thank you again for your prayers. Please greet everyone there from all of us here. God is worthy of our praise and our lives. I pray that the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ will be with you.

In Christ,

Sali and Daniel
